Format & Team Play
The Castle Rock program is structured for 5v5 NFL FLAG play, but built with flexibility to ensure every athlete enjoys maximum participation and development.
If registration numbers are lower in certain age divisions, the program may shift to a Training League format, maintaining the 1-hour practice + 1-hour game structure.
The Training League focuses on skill development, small-sided games, and position rotation, allowing athletes to gain more touches, more reps, and real coaching in a high-energy, fun, and supportive environment.
Depending on enrollment, divisions may also shift to 4v4 or 3v3 play to maintain balance and engagement across all skill levels.
For 14U and High School divisions, which are typically structured for 7v7, final format adjustments (such as 5v5, 4v4, or Training League) will depend on total registration to ensure competitive balance and meaningful gameplay.
Our approach prioritizes:
Fair team sizes
High player engagement
Equal playing time and positional rotation
A fun, confidence-building experience for all athletes

Team formation follows NFL FLAG age-division guidelines, with a focus on balancing teams by:
Age and grade level
School and geographic proximity
Skill level and experience
Players are allowed to play up, but not down, in age divisions.
Returning players receive priority placement with their previous team if registered before the deadline.
New players will be placed based on school, skill level, and available roster space.
Team and buddy requests will be considered and honored whenever possible.
Divisions with limited enrollment may be combined to create balanced, competitive matchups.
